This is perhaps the best online source for Real Estate related news. The articles change on a regular basis, and there are links to other business/ real estate news sites to supplement Mr. Inman's reporting. INMAN.COM is especially good in its coverage of organized real estate.

The CMHC National Homepage has, among other features, a downloadable publications catalogue, information on Emili (their instant mortgage pre-approval system), and online versions of various local housing market reports.

OREA's Page contains a number of useful features. One is an online catalogue, which allows the visitor to choose products and print up an order form on which prices and taxes have been calculated. The site also contains a course calendar, and some sketchy information on the association's various departments.

The Market ICI Real Estate Network is a Toronto area database of industrial and commercial properties for sale. The site has been in existence since 1994, and is quite well known throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The GTHBA (Greater Toronto Home Builders) homepage is excellent graphically. There are the standard news releases, links to member homepages, event calendars, and a private "members only" area. In addition, the site hosts a newsgroup where consumers can swap information on homebuilders, and homebuilders can answer consumer questions.

The Insite Space web page contains a huge, Canada-wide database of office buildings with space for lease. Searches can be conducted by market area, and desired building/floor-size. The information on each property in the database includes contact information (leasing firm, owner, and manager), typical floor size, space available, and a detailed per square foot cost breakdown for each parcel of vacant space. You must register with the site and receive a username and password before conducting searches. More detailed information on the buildings in the database is available for an annual subscription fee.

The homepage of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts contains information about R.E.I.T.s, links to the pages of several dozen R.E.I.T.s, and a searchable database where one can search for such trusts by location, type, year-to-date returns, and so on.

Buried deep within the University of Toronto computers is the homepage of U of T's Urban Entomology Program, where over a decade's worth of TREB-sponsored research aimed at solving Toronto's termite problem has been archived. The site contains a city map showing problem areas, material on detecting the presence of termites, and evaluations of the various termite-suppression techniques.
